The Implementation of Creative Teaching in EFL Classes : A Case Study of the Reading and Writing Modules in the Department of English at MMUTO.
Résumé
This present study is concerned with the issue of Creative Teaching implementation in
the reading and writing modules in the department of English at Mouloud Mammeri
University of Tizi Ouzou . It investigates the extent to which the reading and writing
modules are taught creatively . The work relies on Amabile’s (1992 ) framework about
“Creativity Sources” and Sawyer’s “Three Research Traditions of teaching” (2006 ).
The research makes use of the mixed method research . It also uses the Quantitative
Statistical Procedure for the statistical analysis of the numerical data collected from
questionnaires and Qualitative Content Analysis to interpret the qualitative data
collected from the interviews .The results of the study reveal that not all of the
teachers in charge of the reading and writing modules are acquainted with Creative
Teaching despite the fact that they admit its great importance . Yet , this does not
mean that Creative teaching has no place in the department of English .In fact , some
teachers do perform it . Besides , they follow a set of some interesting and effective
techniques , tasks and activities to teach creatively. Moreover, the findings demonstrate
some barriers which hinder Creative Teaching ‘ implementation . It is concluded that
teachers in charge of the reading and writing modules are still committed to this
important method of teaching despite the obstacles .
