Les m\u00e9tamat\u00e9riaux bir\u00e9fringents \u00e0 base de ces structures sont tr\u00e8s convoit\u00e9s en raison de leurs remarquables capacit\u00e9s \u00e0 contr\u00f4ler et \u00e0 manipuler les \u00e9tats de polarisation de la lumi\u00e8re. L\u2019anisotropie artificielle, obtenue par brisure de sym\u00e9trie, est exploit\u00e9e pour concevoir des lames compactes compatibles avec les dispositifs nano-optiques tout en exhibant des performances meilleures que celles \u00e0 base de mat\u00e9riaux bir\u00e9fringents naturels, caract\u00e9ris\u00e9es par de faibles bir\u00e9fringences impliquant de grandes \u00e9paisseurs les rendant de fait inadapt\u00e9s aux syst\u00e8mes optiques miniaturis\u00e9s. L\u2019objectif assign\u00e9 \u00e0 ce travail de th\u00e8se est de concevoir des lames \u00e0 retard (quart d\u2019onde QWP et demi-onde HWP) \u00e0 base de structures exhibant des transmissions exalt\u00e9es et dont le fonctionnement repose sur l\u2019excitation des modes guid\u00e9s. Le choix de modes guid\u00e9s plut\u00f4t que les modes plasmoniques a permis de r\u00e9duire consid\u00e9rablement les pertes inh\u00e9rentes \u00e0 la nature r\u00e9elle du m\u00e9tal dans la gamme optique. Nous avons ainsi con\u00e7u plusieurs configurations de lames \u00e0 retard et notamment une lame demi-onde ultra-mince dans le visible. Nous avons \u00e9galement optimis\u00e9 les param\u00e8tres d\u2019une ouverture coaxiale \u00e0 \u00e2me elliptique grav\u00e9e dans la couche m\u00e9tallique recouvrant l\u2019apex d\u2019une fibre optique pour permettre au dispositif ainsi form\u00e9 d\u2019agir comme une lame quart d\u2019onde (QWP) de taille nanom\u00e9trique, permettant \u00e0 la fois la commutation de la polarisation lin\u00e9aire du mode fondamental guid\u00e9 de la fibre en une polarisation circulaire transmise ainsi qu\u2019un fort confinement du champ \u00e9lectrique dans la zone proche de la sortie de la fibre.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff\">Mots cl\u00e9s<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">FDTD, Bir\u00e9fringence, Lames \u00e0 retard, QWP, HWP, Nano-optique, M\u00e9ta-mat\u00e9riaux bir\u00e9fringents, Transmission exalt\u00e9e, Fibre optique.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"color: #000000\"><a href='#' class='small-button smallsilver'>Abstract<\/a> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><a href='#' class='small-button smallsilver'>\u00a0Sub-wavelength periodic metallic structures allow new functionalities for nanooptical applications. Birefringent metamaterials based on these structures are highly prized for their remarkable ability to control and manipulate the polarisation states of light. Artificial anisotropy, obtained by breaking symmetry, is exploited to design compact plates that are compatible with nano-optical devices while exhibiting better performance than those based on natural birefringent materials, which are characterised by low birefringence involving large thicknesses, making them unsuitable for miniaturised optical systems. The aim of this thesis is to design delay plates (quarter-wave QWP and half-wave HWP) based on structures exhibiting exalted transmissions and whose functioning is based on the excitation of guided modes. The choice of guided modes rather than plasmonic modes has enabled us to reduce considerably the losses inherent in the real nature of the metal in the optical range. We have thus designed several configurations of delay plates, in particular an ultra-thin half-wave plate in the visible range.
