Today, December 11, 2023, saw the second edition of DIGIday, held at the Faculty of Medicine.
After the first edition of this annual event dedicated to digital technology and organized by the Centre des Systèmes et Réseaux d'information et de communication, de télé-enseignement et d'enseignement à distance, during which the Huawei ICT Academy was launched, and which has been a resounding success, this year the University of Tizi-Ouzou has teamed up with another global IT giant, the American CISCO.
Indeed, this second edition of DIGIday was the occasion for the university to launch its own CISCO Networking Academy.
This academy will welcome students, engineers and teachers from the university, providing them with a rich and varied catalog of courses. Computer networks, cybersecurity, the Internet of Things and programming are just some of the areas in which our students will be able to receive training and CISCO certification. These certifications can be a valuable investment for students, providing them with technical skills, professional recognition and career opportunities in networks and telecommunications.
The entire administrative staff of the University of Tizi-Ouzou attended the event. CISCO, for its part, was represented by Mr. SID AHMED Karim, Regional Director (West Africa, Maghreb, Russia...). The partnership was formalized by the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the two parties.

Speech by the Head of the Network Center
The Centre des Systèmes et Réseaux d'information et de communication, de télé-enseignement et d'enseignement à distance launched DIGIday last year with the aim of making it an annual event dedicated to the digital world.
This goal has been achieved, as we are gathered here today for this 2nd edition of DIGIday.
Digital technology is playing an increasingly crucial role at universities, for a number of reasons:
- Access to structured information
- Online teaching
- Educational innovation
- Research & Development
- Administrative management and communication
Digital technology at university represents an essential evolution in meeting the changing needs of students, lecturers and administrators, while offering new opportunities for learning, collaboration and innovation.
This is the age of digital technology and artificial intelligence. IT is everywhere in our lives, and its importance continues to grow. Every day, new technologies emerge, transforming the way we live, work and interact. In this ever-changing landscape, staying up to date, adapting and mastering these technologies is imperative to prosper.
With this in mind, the Systems and Networks Center has opted for high-quality training courses, accessible to all those who wish to acquire or strengthen their IT skills, whether to launch our students into promising careers, or to perfect the skills of our staff.
Our partnership with the world-renowned giant CISCO will certainly help us achieve these objectives. The launch of the CISCO Notworking Academy at the University of Tizi-Ouzou will mark the beginning of a new era for IT enthusiasts.
This academy will welcome students, engineers and teachers from the university and provide them with a rich and varied catalog of courses. Computer networks, cybersecurity, the Internet of Things and programming are just some of the areas in which our students will be able to receive training and certification.
Cisco certifications, recognized worldwide, can be a valuable investment for a student, offering technical skills, professional recognition, and career opportunities in networking and telecommunications.
We started working on the academy project a year ago. Some ten of the university's instructors are now certified and accredited as CISCO instructors. These seasoned experts will accompany our students as they strive to excel and earn their certifications.
Finally, I'd like to thank all those who helped organize this 2nd edition of DIGIday, as well as all those who contributed in any way to the launch of our second academy, CISCO Networking Academy.
I'd like to thank Mr SID AHMED Karim, CISCO's Regional Director, with whom I've been working for some time to launch our academy.
I would like to thank the Rector of UMMTO, Professor Ahmed BOUDA, who has always encouraged this kind of initiative.
I would also like to thank the General Secretary and all his staff, as well as the faculty teams, for their guidance and support.
Last but not least, a special mention to the staff of the Systems and Networks Center, who work behind the scenes to ensure the success of our projects and the stability of the web services we offer.
And don't forget...Digital is the Future.......and Future is Now
