Important! When submitting an article, authors must ensure that neither the journal nor the publisher is predatory (even if they are listed in the Thomson Reuters or Scopus databases).
- Paid magazines whose payment is a criterion for acceptance of the article are not accepted.
- Magazines that require payment for certain charges, such as those required for figures to appear in color, are tolerated.
- Journals offering the choice of publishing with the "Open Access" option and requiring payment of charges, or publishing free of charge and reserving access to the article strictly for subscribers, are accepted.
The article submitted for the defense
- Articles selected from conference proceedings published in special issues of periodicals are not accepted unless they have undergone the usual evaluation procedure by the reviewers, after presentation of the paper. In this case, documentary evidence must be provided.
- The article must be directly related to the thesis topic.
- The name of the thesis director may be omitted from the article. In this case, the thesis director must justify his or her decision in writing.
- The doctoral student's name must appear in the first position, except for journals that use alphabetical order of authors. In this case, written proof must be provided.
- In the case of an article published by several co-authors, including PhD students, this article can only be used for the defense of a single thesis.
- For items that do not bear the submission date, the candidate must include a receipt indicating the date of submission.
- Articles classified as "Short Communication", "Brief Paper", "Letter to Editer", "Review Paper", etc., are not accepted. Only authors of "Research" articles are eligible for the defense.
- Once the article has been accepted, the doctoral student who has finalized his or her thesis work may submit his or her defense file by presenting an official letter of acceptance or by forwarding the acceptance e-mail to the Vice Dean in charge of post-graduation.
However, the defense authorization will only be issued once the article is visible on the journal's website.
- Doctoral students in the LMD system, enrolled from 2016/2017 onwards, are entitled to a patent, in accordance with the regulations.

Scientific work produced by the doctoral student as part of his or her doctoral thesis is the rightful property of the institution in which he or she is registered.
In order to avoid any loss of visibility and to improve our university's ranking, the wording of the affiliation, which must be applied to all the scientific output of the research professors and doctoral students enrolled at UMMTO, must be standardized. The proposed wording is as follows:

- Teachers-researchers and doctoral students not affiliated with research laboratories:

- Dual affiliation is permitted when justified (teacher from another institution enrolled at UMMTO, doctoral student who has spent time in a foreign laboratory, etc....).
Transition period
The above conditions apply to all articles submitted after the date of publication of this document. For articles submitted before this date, the usual criteria remain in force.
