Amazigh Language Planning and Teaching Laboratory (LAELA)

Berber language development can be approached from two angles: a unifying approach and a variationist approach. This second approach has been chosen. To begin with, the team will focus on establishing terminologies, initially targeting those areas where the need is most acute. Metalanguage and lexical creations in Berber language teaching manuals from primary to secondary school seem to be a priority. Indeed, as these terms are hastily put together, often by non-specialists, many of them need to be re-examined. The first step is to draw up an inventory of the neologisms in the nine textbooks currently in use in the various cycles; the second is to draw up a list of terms to be reconsidered, and the third is to propose alternative terms.

The "Language and Heritage" axis aims to address the relationship between language and heritage, and to analyze the linguistic and discursive practices of discourse genres (scientific, literary, media, advertising, etc.) in relation to their spaces of mediation. The relationship between language and territory will also be taken into account, as will language as a cultural object, which will be analyzed within the framework of linguistic anthropology. Other issues will be addressed in this area, notably the analysis of disocurs as a social activity. Language is also considered in its social and institutional dimensions, reflecting the relationships between individuals in different spaces and the place it occupies in institutions, notably schools.

The research team works on all the phonetic and phonological problems linked to the development of the Amazigh language, mainly on the development of Amazigh writing. It is also trying to introduce the Amazigh language into the new tchonologies, notably by creating databases of oral corpora that can be used in machine translation, and by creating speaking linguistic atlases (association and synchronization of sound/text) whose data can be exploited in the field of planning and also in dialectomerics, which will make it possible to classify Amazigh speakers, always with the aim of making the planning of Amazigh more efficient.

The aim is to characterize Amazigh literary corpora, whether traditional oral, mediatized oral or written. The study of these corpora can take several forms: bibliographic, bibliometric, poetic, stylistic, etc. The aim is to provide an analytical overview of literary corpora in terms of their composition, their existence in society and their poetics. All attempts at analysis will focus on the problem of literary tradition and renewal. Texts and genres will also be studied in relation to historically significant authors. Poetic and stylistic characterization will thus be combined with the historical orientation of the corpora.
In addition to the characterization of literary corpora, two major issues will run through all the group's work. These are the question of literary renewal (at all levels, from the sociological to the strictly poetic) and the question of literary history.
