As gateways to knowledge and culture, libraries play a key role in society. Their resources and services provide learning opportunities, and help shape the new ideas and perspectives that underpin creative and innovative societies. Libraries also help to ensure an authentic record of the knowledge acquired and accumulated by past generations. In a world without libraries, it would be difficult to advance research and knowledge, or to preserve humanity's accumulated knowledge and heritage for future generations.

The mission of the university library is to accompany and support teaching and research.
Dear readers: students, teachers and researchers,
You are most welcome at the university library of the Université Mouloud MAMMERI de Tizi-Ouzou. This space is yours, and we are delighted to welcome you every day. We trust you, our readers, and ask for your cooperation in creating an atmosphere conducive to study.
The librarians of this structure are responsible for creating and providing you with a quality service and the means for efficient information management, so that you have access to the most relevant resources. The role of the staff is essential in these areas of pedagogical support: personalized accompaniment of researchers, methodological training, design of tutorials... are all skills to be acquired and developed.
The new management team's ambition is to restore the university library to its former glory, by promoting its role as a place of intellectual and cultural influence.

Libraries are suited to all stages of an individual's life as: places of discovery, means of continuing education, sources of general, political and social information, reservoirs of ideas, opportunities to acquire new skills, socio-cultural centers, local resource and study centers, places for sharing and self-fulfillment.

They are also responsible for training students in documentary research.

They therefore play a real role in providing access to scientific and technical information within a university.

The Library's website is the gateway to existing documentation. As we work to make the process as seamless as possible, our users often access online resources provided by a library subscription without even knowing it! For example, when you do a search, even on Google, and find a scientific article with full text, there's a good chance that access has been provided by the library.

Hello and welcome to the central library of the Université Mouloud Mammeri de Tizi-Ouzou.

This is your space, and we're delighted to welcome you every day.
Our staff are at your disposal to provide you with quality service, in a collaborative approach designed to make the central library the lungs of teaching and research at UMMTO, or a tool for scientific performance and a place of intellectual and cultural influence.

The new management team has set itself the goal of restoring the central library to its former glory, with an ambitious project centred on three key areas:
- The democratization project, through which the library will become a common asset accessible to all university stakeholders, as well as to its partners and peripheral publics. Participative management and the search for synergy between players are more than important in this respect;

- Modernization through the ongoing improvement of the technological, managerial and structural systems that underpin this area;

- The organization of events to raise BU's profile nationally and regionally.
